A2000 AND HEART OF THE HIDE GLOVES
Yeah, bats are fun. A new bag can be very practical. A nice MLB jersey is great!
But for a ball player, no piece of gear induces an emotional – almost visceral – attachment like their glove. The glove is the thing!
And there are no glove lines that can compete with Wilson’s A2000 and Rawlings’ Heart of the Hide in terms of popularity among elite players. Every year, baseball enthusiasts eagerly await the new model offerings from their favorite manufacturer to choose their new gamer.
Baseball novices might be thinking: “A glove is a glove,” or “The glove doesn’t make the player.”
The latter may well be true, but you only need to take one look at our extensive glove walls to realize that the former thought is very outdated. A good analogy would be to say that our glove displays 10 years ago were like a cloudy sky, while today’s look more like clearing skies when it’s still raining and a huge, bright rainbow appears out of nowhere.
Individuality is all the rage among young players today. Sure, they want to fit in, but they also want to express themselves, to show how they stand out from the crowd. For ballplayers, nothing helps them do that more than a glove that nobody else has.
Rawlings and Wilson recognized that shift in consumer demand and have adjusted their marketing and production to cater to this new, younger base.
Looks aside, the one thing you know you can count on with both A2000 and HOH models is the premium craftsmanship and overall quality of the leather. Both lines use 5% of the best available hides to produce state-of-the-art gamers worthy elite athletes. Their gloves are built to last through the rigors that high-end players subject their gear to during any given season.
Of course, the selection for A2000 and HOH gloves covers the entire playing field, from various infield and outfield models to seemingly endless catcher, first base and pitcher patterns and colorways.
See what both manufacturers have to offer and find the model you want to add to your wish list or offer to that special player you love so much.
They call him “SHOTIME” for a reason. There is absolutely nothing Shohei Ohtani can’t do on a baseball diamond.
Well, you can now add shoe designer to his extensive list of talents. Shohei has been a New Balance spokesman ever since he joined the MLB in 2018. You may have seen the commercials that all end with huge Shohei smile.
Yes, we introduce to you the very first line of baseball shoes designed by the future Hall of Famer from Japan. FuelCell Ohtani 1 shoes are offered in turf and metal cleats.
The turf shoe is equipped with small rubber studs covering the entire outsole. They’re perfect for traction on the dirt or artificial surfaces. The fact that they are evenly distributed, combined with New Balance’s FuelCell foam midsole, makes for a comfortable ride around the bases.
The metal cleats come with an improved 10-spike configuration that is designed to be lower to the ground, for a more athletic and stable base all over the field. As usual with New Balance, the FuelCell foam means more forward momentum and comfort. Finally, the flat, highly polished and gold colored outsole plate bring a classy, high-end touch to the shoe and keeps the compacted dirt from clinging to the bottom.
But New Balance designers also got some help from Ohtani to make the Ohtani 1’s uppers more durable. Both models feature a raised triangular pattern in high-wear areas to add more durability to the shoes, no matter what position you play.
There’s a new trend in slowpitch softball, and it’s the return of 1-piece bats!
Yes, the barrel technology has become so advanced that manufacturers like Miken have been able to dampen vibration via barrel design – similarly to fastpitch bats – instead of having to do it through the connection of the now conventional 2-piece bats.
The advantage of 1-piece designs is twofold. First, the fact that there is no dampener allows for all the energy generated by the player’s swing speed to be transferred to the ball. Second, 2-piece connection systems are expensive to design and produce, which explains why 1-piece bats are more affordable.
Miken’s KP23 (Kyle Pearson signature designs) 1-piece bats are offered in two different versions aimed at two different types of players.
The KP23 Blue Line is a Maxload (0.5oz) bat that is equipped with a V2 Flex barrel, created to maximize barrel compression in multiple areas, creating a massive sweet spot by utilizing variable layups and exclusive resins. Therefore, it targets players with lower swing speeds who need a little help to generate power.
The KP23 Red Line is a balanced bat featuring Miken’s proprietary Tri-Zone barrel technology, which creates lower compression, transferring more of the better hitter’s natural power back to the ball.
Get with the times and gift your loved one a highly innovative KP23 this Holiday season.
Rawlings is back in the composite bat game with its Icon series, which hit the market with a huge bang a year ago.
The 2025 version of the series is even hotter, with a fresh new look that is very distinctive. These beauties feature either white (for USSSA drops 8 and 13) or beige (for USA drop 10 and BBCOR) camo pattern barrels.
All are 2-piece composite bats that feature large, forgiving barrels made from Rawlings’ own In/Tense Carbon technology, a seamless carbon composite construction that maximizes barrel size and performance, while maintaining optimal stiffness and increased trampoline effect.
When we ask customers what they like most about the Icons, they all say the same thing: it’s the ultra-balanced feel.
Sure, Easton’s Hype Fire is getting a lot of publicity these days for being borderline illegally hot – it’s been banned by the Perfect Game elite program in the U.S. – but according to many online reviews and the feedback we get, the Icons aren’t very far behind, if not just as powerful.
EASTON TANGO USA BAT, A VALUE PLAY
If like many of us these days you are on a budget and have a kid in your life who plays Little League ball, the new Tango is a very attractive option.
Its forest green with bright orange letter print pattern stands out on our racks, but what makes it a great USA Baseball 1-piece, drop 11 bat is the bigger than average barrel made from a durable ALX100 alloy.
The concave end cap also helps create a larger sweet spot, which makes it easier for less experienced kids to lift the ball over the infielders’ heads and improve that batting average.
The Tango’s best feature may well be its $139.99 price tag. That will make Santa a very happy giver!
The sliding mitt is a relatively recent piece of gear on the market. It hasn't evolved much since its invention. EvoShield being a leader in the industry, it had to be them who would revolutionize this otherwise simple product.
The EvoShield 2.0 Mitt has rubber bumpers along the top that protect the fingertips when they’re jammed against the base, or an infielder’s leg. Updated channels along the palm and back of the hand help improve finger dexterity for a firm grip on the base. The elastic compression strap keeps the mitt in place and allows for quick on-and-off, and the thumb hole includes a comfortable fabric valve for the option to place your thumb inside or outside.
Plus, the 2.0 version can now be worn on either hand. No more LH and RH models, which simplifies buying one as a gift for a friend or family member.
Finally, Evoshield now makes Youth Sliding Mitts, to better fit younger players' hands and give them more dexterity around the bag on head-first slides.
EvoShield being the clear leader in the baseball protective gear universe, you can be assured of the high-end quality of all their products.
For serious ball players who want a durable bag that puts everyone on notice that they mean business, this Jordan Fly Elite Bat Pack fits the bill to a tee. This all-leather bag is a fashion statement as much as it is an extremely durable and practical backpack with all the amenities players look for on game day!
First, this is the only all-leather bag on the market, for a luxurious look and unmatched durability.
The Fly Elite bag provides a locker-style main compartment to house all on-field essentials, and any change of clothes you may have worn to the game. Its bat sleeves can store up to four bats or water bottles, and the lined cleat pocket is spacious and separates dirty cleats from the rest of the gear, uniform or clothes.
If your baseball addict has a penchant for novelty, they will love finding this showpiece under the tree!
